Gail (Holland) Thornburg, a lifetime resident of Amador County, passed away Monday March 30, 2015 in Plymouth at the age of 74 years. Gail was born in Jackson, CA on April 23, 1940, a daughter of the late Ollie and David Holland. Gail was born as the sixth of eight children, only minutes before her twin brother Dale. Gail was raised in Plymouth, graduating from Amador High School in 1958. After graduating, she married Jerry Thornburg, a transplant from Oklahoma, on June 27, 1958 and they began their family. Gail was a work at home mother until the mid 1970's when she began her career at Pokerville Market. She made many lifelong friends and was known by everyone as Gail T. Gail's passion was working in her yard and flowers; she could always be found pulling weeds, pulling garden hoses or pushing her mower, and photographing her blooms. Gail also loved to cook and would enjoy a cup of coffee and food with anyone who stopped by. Gail was a part of the local women's group who helped found the park along Hwy49 in Plymouth, as well as volunteering for Elections, Fire Department functions, Cooper Winery wine club events, street fairs, pancake breakfasts, and was part of the flag committee for Main Street. Gail is survived by her daughter Debby Moffatt and husband Tim of Ione. Their daughters are Kimberly and husband Brian Rust and great-grandson Connor Rust; and daughter Ashley Moffatt. Gail is also survived by her sister and adventure companion Barbara Nicholson of Plymouth; brother-in-law Marcel Tiquet of Shenandoah Valley; sister-in-laws, Stella Thornburg of Wister, OK, Audrey Thornburg of Fanshawe OK, Joyce Thornburg of Manteca, CA and Diane Holland of Sutter Creek, CA. Gail is also survived by her daughter Kathy's children Travis (and Kerry) Bennett of Missouri; Sheena (and Kevin) Hudson with children Macayla, Joey, Michael, Destinee, Kevin Jr, and Hunter; Joshua Lutz with children Austin, Tyler, Jake, Aurora, and Wyatt; and Levi Scott (and Tabitha) Bennett with children Autumn, Baylee, and Levi Jr; all of Arkansas. Gail was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, her daughter Kathy, and her son Doug. She was also preceded by five brothers and one sister. Gail will be missed daily by her family, her many nieces and nephews, neighbors, friends, and extended family. Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside service at the Plymouth Cemetery on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, 11:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
