Geradette Marie Boozer passed away peacefully at her home, May 28, 2024, after a courageous 14-year battle with thyroid cancer.

Gerry was born in Martin, South Dakota to Lawrence W. Livermont and Evalyn Livermont.  At the age of two, her family moved to California, settling in Salinas.  Gerry graduated from North Salinas High in 1972 and pursued arts at Hartnell Junior College.  She continued living a very zestful life: waterskiing, surfing, casting jewelry, commercial fishing, bartending, oncology nursing, bookkeeping, supporting many far-flung friends with philanthropic efforts and love, being an amazing hostess and cook, visiting and storytelling, but first and foremost being a loving mother to her only child, Shawn Dakota Martinez.  She, Shawn and her husband Frank Martinez, enjoyed experiencing life in Madisonville, TX (loved those Texas Bluebells) and in Knoxville, TN (loved those antique flea markets).  Gerry and Shawn returned to Salinas to be with family and to allow Shawn to attend Hartnell.  Gerry then reunited with Eli Boozer, Jr.  They celebrated their longstanding love, marrying in 2014.

Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Ev Livermont, her spouses, Frank Martinez and Eli Boozer, Jr., and brother-in-law Louis Goldman.  She is survived by her son, Shawn, her sisters and brothers, Jimmie, Charlene, Maxine, Eddy, and Larry.  Many nephews and great-nieces and nephews also survive her.

The family extends their heartfelt gratefulness to her many supportive friends, including Rick, Rigo, Kevin, Donald, Daniel, Sylvie, Stevie, Brenda, Holly, Paul, Henry, Mary and her family, and many many more wonderful friends.

Please join us for Gerry's memorial Service at Healey Mortuary, 11 am Saturday, July 13, 2024.  And the Celebration of Her Life to follow directly after the memorial at her Prunedale garden home.

Healey Mortuary

At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
