Garfield Hilde

Garfield Hilde, 86 of Edmonds, WA passed peacefully at his home December 14, 2008 with his family by his side. He was born November 4, 1922 in Felton, MN where he lived until he moved to Seattle in 1941. Garfield served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Verna Morken in 1946 and they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in November.He owned and operated North End Septic Tank Co. from 1946 until he retired in 1988. He enjoyed his garden, family, fishing, skiing, and baseball, and was well known for his spectacular Christmas light display. Garfield is survived by his lovely wife Verna, and two children: Darrell (Terry), Dorriene Stoneman (Bob), grandchildren Matthew Hilde, Lindsey Brett Stoneman. He also leaves his sister Walterine Crosby of MN. He is now reunited with his grandson Mark Hilde, his mother, father, two brothers and a sister.A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, Dec. 22, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6215 196th St. SW, Lynnwood, WA 98036 with a recn immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Garfields name to the Baxter/Hilde Baseball Scholarship fund in memory of his grandson Mark.
