Gary Adams

Gary Lee Adams 57 of St. Petersburg passed away January 12, 2013. Gary, born on January 30, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois, was the second-born son of Nicholas and Evelyn Adams. He grew up in the lovely town of Elk Grove Village, IL. He loved and excelled in many sports, particularly baseball and football. He was an integral part of the Elk Grove High School football team, one of the best in the state of Illinois between 1971-73, as a soccer-style kicker, which was generally unheard of at that time. He won several games with last-second field goals during that period. Gary was also very ambitious and entreprenurial, even as a young boy. He started a couple of small home businesses selling things around the neighborhood. After high school, he started two small business operations in the Chicago area before moving to St Petersburg Florida in 1977. Gary started his painting business "Gulf Coast Painting" in 1979 and is well-known for his hard work and boundless energy. He lived by the words "determination, persistence, and perseverance" right up to the end. He married his wife Joanne in 1980 and they were blessed with 3 beautiful children, Pamela, Andrea, & Eric. For the past few years he and Joanne enjoyed traveling; his favorite places were Chicago, San Francisco, Hollywood, New Orleans, and especially snorkeling in the crystal clear Caribbean waters of Puerto Rico. Some of his other hobbies and interests include music, classic cars, and sports. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Joanne; adoring children Pamela, Andrea, and Eric; mother Evelyn Adams, brother Nick Adams and his wife Mary Beth, and his all-time favorite aunt Ev. Other relatives who will be missing Gary are sisters-in-law Raven, Janet, Nancy, Teri and Giselle; brothers-in-law Rob and Phil. Also, 7 nieces: Juna, Kimberley, Catrina, Emma, Raven, Haley, Priscilla; and 5 nephews: Daniel, Jason, Kevin, Brett and Bryan. There are many more caring relatives, friends, neighbors, and business aquaintances, too numerous to list. Friends will be received at David C. Gross Funeral Home in St. Petersburg on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 6-8PM, where a service will be at 6:30PM. David C.
