Gary Ashton was a hard working devoted man to God and family. He was a Christian and believed only in the father, son, and holy spirit. He came from very humble beginnings and had more than his fair share of hardships as a child. Throughout the years growing up in poverty and without education he created a successful life physically and emotionally in self employment as a roofing contractor. With a growing savings and continuing to provide for his family in ways he or they had never experienced he along with his family experienced a tragedy with the loss of his 20 year old son Michael Anthony in a shocking manner. Because his son was murdered in Detroit for nothing more then robery he was devastated and lost his way. He began to invest all his money energy and time to find the murderer of his son and although he did eventually bring this man to justice the toll it took on his family was almost as devastating. He then began to get ill and never was able to acheive financial security again and as well it affected all members of his family with their educations and futures, He was ill for over 20 years and all remaining members of his family with children and health conditions of their own utilized the little they had in order to care for him with severe kidnet disease and heart trouble. Unfortunately the cost for his care left them unable to obtain life insurance until it was too late and the monies they had put aside for his funeral and then cremation was then stolen by a desperate and lost family member. Gary Ashton was a loving and good man son father friend and partner. He cared for all that concerned God but he also was by his own admission in no way perfect and the greatest joy was in Jesus his redeemer. Gary found his way to accepting Jesus in his heart in the early 2000s and passed with the love of the lord in his heart. Theintention is to bring his ashes home as soon as they can and place them on the burial site of his son in Detroit, Michigan. A state they have not been to in many years but knows this is where he would want his body to be. The family thanks you for this and say God bless you either way in Jesus' name Amen. Sincerely from the Ashton family Arrangements by Edwards Memorial, Funerals Homes, Chapels and Crematories. 253-566-1008
