Gary was born on November 7, 1950 to Rolland and Margaret Bird in Hastings, NE. The family moved to Colorado Springs in 1958. Gary played football in high school, earning a letter jacket and graduated in 1970. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1970-1972. On August 8, 1970, he married Cindy Hall and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last year. Gary and his family moved to Greeley in 1991 for his job as a dispatcher for oil trucks. He also drove a truck for many years. For the last 14 years, he enjoyed working for Rubadue Wire. Gary really loved his Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, golf, cooking, playing poker, but most of all spending time with his family and friends and he was always right. One of Gary’s favorite birthdays was his last, in which his daughters and granddaughter surprised him when they flew up from Texas. Gary is survived by his wife, Cindy; daughters, Lorinda and Tina; granddaughter, Vonae all of Kingwood, Texas; siblings, Cheryle (Jim) of Colorado Springs; Mitch of Calhan; Linda of Colorado Springs; and Dan (Ray) of Oregon; two sisters-in-law, Barbara (Eddie) of Colorado Springs and Iris (Tom) of Kingwood, Texas; several nieces nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rolland and Margaret Bird; grandparents, George and Anna Daniher; in-laws, Lucille and George Hall; and sister-in-law, Shirley Bird. Visitation 4-6 p.m. Tuesday at Adamson. Life Celebration will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 24 at Adamson with a reception to follow. Please wear your Bronco gear; Gary would love that! In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Gary’s name to the cancer research organization of your choice or "Weld County Humane Society” in care of Adamson, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
