"AMHERST - Gary Philip Castor, 75, died peacefully at Baystate Medical Center on April 10, 2018. He was born on March 30, 1943 in Holyoke to Gerald F. and Anita I. (Legrand) Castor. He grew up in South Hadley and graduated from South Hadley High School in 1961. He studied accounting at Holy Cross College and Columbia School of Business. He worked for many years as an auditor and an accountant. He resided in Farmington CT and most recently in Hadley and Amherst. He enjoyed traveling, music, opera, theater, and movies. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends. He was an accomplished amateur artist and belonged to many organizations that supported the arts. He will be deeply missed by his uncle Lawrence Remillard of South Hadley; his cousins Susan Delisle (Gerry) and Judy Mitrolka (Joe) of Hadley; and their families. He especially enjoyed spending time with his younger cousins Brian Delisle (Sarah), Aspen Delisle, and Brennan Mitrolka. The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the many people who cared for Gary at The Arbors at Amherst, Elaine Center at Hadley, and Baystate Medical Center and for the support they gave us. Beers and Story Funeral Home in South Hadley is in charge of the arrangements. There will be no calling hours and a burial will be held at the convenience of the family."
