Obituary Gary Wayne Darby of Colorado Springs, CO passed away at his home on March 27, 2022. He was born on June 30. 1951 to Telford Harold Darby and Teresa Antoinette Cloutier in Cleburne, TX. He graduated from Cleburne High School in 1969 and went on to attend the University of Texas at Arlington. Gary enlisted in the Navy while in college in 1972. He graduated from Avionics Technical School, Class A in April 1973. He married Olivia Anne Leifeste the end of April 1973. Gary was stationed in San Diego after his A school. He served aboard the USS Forrestal during the Vietnam war. When his sea duty ended, he was assigned to teach at NA5 Miramar. When he discharged from the Navy, he continued to serve his country with a career in Civil Service spanning over 30 years until his retirement. Gary never stopped learning, attending college on and off whenever his schedule would allow, resulting in him graduating as a Registered Nurse from Grayson College in Texas at the age of 60. He then worked as an RN taking care of special need children until he finally retired at the age of 67. Gary had two children with his wife, Olivia. Patrick Sean Darby in 1974 and Nevylen Anne Darby in 1977. He loved photography, gardening and wild animals. He could get the squirrels to eat from his hands and was even known to get the deer to take food from him. Gary was preceded in death by both of his parents and his older brother, Raymond Roy Darby. He is survived by his children, Patrick Sean Darby and Nevylen Anne Gonzales, beloved grandson, Jacob Darby and son-in-law, Alex Gonzales. He is also survived by his brother, Dale Edward Darby and his spouse, Olivia Anne Darby.
