Gary V. Gustas

Mr. Gary Vincent Gustas, 74, of Amsterdam, New York passed away on Saturday, July 30th, 2022 at St Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. He was born in Amsterdam on February 28, 1948 to Mr. William J. Gustas and Mrs. Edna V. Vainauskas Gustas. Gary attended local schools including St Casimir's Elementary school and Wilbur H. Lynch High School, the graduating class of 1966. Following High School he worked at General Electric for one year before enlisting in the U.S. Army. Following his enlistment Gary returned to his position at G.E., he retired in 2003. Gary was united in marriage to Claudia Druziak on September 30, 1972. They shared 49 wonderful years together. Gary was a car man through and through, he loved his Corvette and going to car shows with his wife and friends, he enjoyed spending time with his pets and feeding animals, loved reading, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Gary is survived by his wife Claudia, sister Joyce (Anthony) Orapello of Amsterdam, brother William M. Gustas of Florida, nieces and nephews; Daniel Orapello, Amy (David) Waddell and Ana (Steve) Mink as well as numerous cousins and friends. A Service of Remembrance will take place on Friday, August 5, 2022 at 11:00AM at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home 171 Guy Park Ave Amsterdam, NY 12010. Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Friday, August 5, 2022 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home prior to the service. Inurnment with Military Honors will take place at St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Cemetery immediately following services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Montgomery County SPCA P.O.
