Gary C. Myers, 59, of Gloversville passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2015 at his home. Born June 3, 1955 in Englewood, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Elwood Irvin and Dorothy Chapin Myers. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Economics and Political Science from Eisenhower College in Seneca Falls, NY. Gary had worked for the Social Security Administration for over 36 years. He was a former Elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Gloversville. Gary was the current local vice-president for the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) and was a member of the Pine Tree Rifle Club and Johnstown Moose Lodge. Gary enjoyed cars, shooting at the rifle club but most of all loved spending time with friends and family. Survivors include his son Matthew Myers of Dallas, TX; daughter Jessica Myers Varley (Paul) of Gansevoort; brother Robert Myers (Kathy) of North Haledon, NJ; niece Christina Sarkissian and nephew Steven Myers (Caitlin). Gary is also survived by many loving friends and family that will miss him dearly. A memorial service to celebrate Gary's life will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 1:00 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church of Johnstown, 37 South Market Street Johnstown, NY 12095 with Rev.Edmund T. Freeborn III officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Gary's memory to the National Corvette Museum, 350 Corvette Drive, Bowling Green, KY 42101 or to the National Rifle Association (NRA), 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, VA 22030.
