Gary Lee Spivey, 71, of Gate City, VA, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was born in Kingsport, TN on June 20, 1949, a son of the late James D. Spivey and Margaret Edith (Quillen) Spivey. Gary was of the Baptist faith. He retired after 34 years of service from Quebecor Printing in Kingsport, TN. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Gary enjoyed rabbit hunting and fishing. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. Surviving are his wife, Angie Belle Spivey, of the home; brother, George Spivey and wife Peggy, Blountville, TN; step-son, John Slemp, Castlewood, VA; niece, Tessa Snapp and husband Kent; nephew, Brent Spivey and wife Brandy; great-nieces, Sydnee Snapp, Allyson Snapp, Kenleigh Snapp and Brooke Spivey; great-nephew, Brevan Spivey. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 AM Monday, April 26, 2021 at the Ponderosa Cemetery, Sugar Pine Lane, Gate City, VA with Dr. Lester Morelock officiating. Family and friends planning to attend the services are asked to meet at 11:15 AM at the cemetery and everyone is asked to wear a face covering and practice social distancing. Pallbearers will be Kent Snapp, Brent Spivey, Brevan Spivey, John Slemp, Marvin Tipton, Wendall Quillen and Terry Williams. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City, VA is serving the Spivey family.
