Gary "Duke" Lee Thacker

Eidson – Gary Lee “Duke” Thacker, 77 of Eidson, TN went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 20, 2023 at home following an apparent heart attack. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Vietnam and enjoyed hunting and trout fishing. Gary was a Christian. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Estelle Fields Thacker; his sister, Barbara Lawson and his brothers, Eldridge, Wayne and Bobby Thacker. Gary is survived by his special friend, Betty Horton; daughters, Vivian Mitchell and Rebecca Spivey (Ricky); son, Jason Thacker; several grandchildren; sister, Nancy Fields; sisters-in-law, Shirley and Sue Thacker; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Larry Tolley officiating. A military graveside service will follow in the Johnson-Head Cemetery, 1426 Robinette Valley Road, with American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 conducting the rites. Pallbearers will be Dwight Palmer, Billy Everhart, Zachary Fentress, Michael Thacker, Daniel Thacker and Joe Fentress.
