Gary "Duke" Lee Thacker
April 25th, 1945 - March 20th, 2023
Eidson – Gary Lee “Duke” Thacker, 77 of Eidson, TN went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 20, 2023 at home following an apparent heart attack. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Vietnam and enjoyed hunting and trout fishing. Gary was a Christian. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Estelle Fields Thacker; his sister, Barbara Lawson and his brothers, Eldridge, Wayne and Bobby Thacker. Gary is survived by his special friend, Betty Horton; daughters, Vivian Mitchell and Rebecca Spivey (Ricky); son, Jason Thacker; several grandchildren; sister, Nancy Fields; sisters-in-law, Shirley and Sue Thacker; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Larry Tolley officiating. A military graveside service will follow in the Johnson-Head Cemetery, 1426 Robinette Valley Road, with American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 conducting the rites. Pallbearers will be Dwight Palmer, Billy Everhart, Zachary Fentress, Michael Thacker, Daniel Thacker and Joe Fentress. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Palmer, Stan Pruitt, Randall Hickman, Robbie Thacker and Todd Fields. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.cartertrent.com.
