Gene Holland Anderton, Sr

Gene Holland Anderton, Sr. of Summerville, SC was born on April 19, 1937, in Emporia, VA and passed away at his residence in Summerville on January 15, 2023. He started with CSX in 1955, a career that took him to Richmond, VA, Miami, FL, and Charleston, SC, where he retired after 40 years. He loved travelling in his RV and volunteering at National Parks across the United States. He also loved his Duke Blue Devils Basketball, watching Westerns, “puttering around the house,” and playing with his beloved dog Cali girl. Most importantly, he loved and had great affection for his wife, Pat, and family. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, William and Clyde (Chitty) Anderton, brother W.A. Anderton and sister Frances Forrest. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Patricia O. Anderton, and daughters, Cynthia (Cindy) L. Ranallo, Jeanne C. Anderton, Denise Didio, Beth Anne Gardner, and Linda A. Estrada and son Gene H. Anderton, Jr. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date with family and friends. His final resting place will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Chesapeake, VA.
