Gene L. Hodges

November 22nd, 1932 - December 22nd, 2017

Gene LaVell Hodges, 85, Caldwell/Middleton area, passed away on December 22, 2017 after courageous and long battle with cancer. Gene was born on November 22, 1932 to Paul and & Merle Hodges in Leslie, Idaho in a one room log cabin. He grew up and went to school in Salmon, Idaho. Gene married Adella M. Morgan in September 1950. They were later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were blessed with 4 sons: Gordon, Lannie, Steven and Del. Gene was a home-builder, custom kitchen maker, and a custom cabinet maker. He was very handy and could figure out how to make most things work. He enjoyed doing leather work especially: wallets, belts, and handbags. Gene has been a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a pioneer in helping build the down town LDS Middleton, building, and also helped with the Salmon, Idaho LDS Stake Center. Gene and Adella have celebrated 67 years of marriage together. Gene is survived by his wife, Adella, Sons: Gordon (Kathryn) Hodges, Lannie (Rachel) Hodges, Steven (Eileen) Hodges and Del (Sammy) Hodges, Two sisters: LaVerda Whiting and Karen Pace. Two brothers: Lynn Hodges and Gerald Hodges. Ten Grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren. He preceded in death by, parents, two grandsons: Brett Hodges, and Tristan Hodges. The family will receive guests at 10:00 - 10:45 AM at the Downtown LDS Middleton Building (309 W. Main), Middleton, Idaho. Gene’s Funeral service will be begin at 11:00 AM at the church all the services are held on Friday December 29, 2017. Burial will follow at Middleton Cemetery, Middleton, Idaho. Services are under the care of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
