Geneva Meadows, age 84 made her journey home on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Lakeview Manor I, Los Lunas, NM. Geneva was born in Lanty, Arkansas, December 21, 1928 to John Henry and Annie Myrtle (Bridges) Garrison. She was 2 years old when her family moved to Round Top, NM where the family farmed dry land beans. A few years later her family moved south to Center Point, then later on to Mountainair, NM where she attended school and graduated. Geneva then worked at the Mountainair Grocery or as she referred to it as the "Cash Store" up until she married farmer/rancher Thomas Meadows on February 8, 1950 of the Ewing Community southwest of Estancia. They were married 56 years until Tommy passed away September 11, 2006. Geneva helped Tommy raise prairie hay, raise a herd of Jersey & Holstein dairy cattle and farm dryland crops. They also ran feed trucks for Harlee Townsend during the 1950's drought. They both later farmed irrigated crops and were able to build a Hereford/Angus beef cattle herd which continues today. Geneva really enjoyed being with her family and always enjoyed family gatherings in Mountainair, which included all her brothers, sisters and their families. She was preceded in death by brothers Earl, Leonard and Clarence Garrison, her sisters Goldie Poteet, Eunice Ainsworth-Scheller-Weaver, Beatrice Medley and Ruby Jean Cardwell. Her sister Sybil Franks resides in Socorro, NM. Geneva enjoyed listening to good 'ole' Cowboy music, mainly Sons Of The Pioneers. During many family gatherings music was part of the entertainment. Geneva would play the guitar with a brother and some of the nephews while everyone would sing along. In the 60's and 70's Geneva enjoyed gardening and could prepare delicious vegetables to serve with the homegrown beef she would prepare. More recently she enjoyed afternoons watching The Waltons and Ellen. Her son John Meadows continues to run the ranch along with her daughter Sandra Cornelius, son-in-law Kit Cornelius and her granddaughter Kristen Nicole Cornelius of NMSU. While living in Mountainair, Geneva attended the Methodist Church. Geneva has now made her journey home just in time for Easter to be with her Lord and Savior. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Lakeview Manor and Ambercare Hospice of Belen, NM for their loving kindness and care. Private graveside services have taken place at the Meadows Ranch with Tommy Crider officiating. Thank you to Selma and Barbara and the entire staff at Riverside Funeral Home, Los Lunas, NM for your kindness during our time of sorrow. Arrangements entrusted to Riverside Funeral Home of Los Lunas, 820 Main St. NE, (505) 565-1700.
