Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel - Payette
Genevee Norma Burleson
August 31st, 1924 - November 20th, 2019
Genevee "Jennie" Norma (Robinson) Davis Burleson slipped away to heaven on Wednesday, November 20th 2019. She lived a beautifully full life and was treasured by all her friends and family. She was born August 31st, 1924 in Newton, Kansas however her mother died when she was just 20 days old. She was cared for by the Zook family in Kansas until the age of 6 when her father retrieved her to live with him in Twin Falls, Idaho. Jennie graduated from Twin Falls high school in 1942. She met Lewis "Bud" Davis through school friends and they married September 21st, 1942 in Cassia County Idaho. Then began her story as a classic War Bride. Bud was sent off to Europe to fight in the war and Jennie was left at home pregnant with their first son. When her grandchildren asked about her fears during this dramatic time she smiled and reflectively said, "Well we did what we had to do. I wasn't alone." Bud returned from the war and they settled into life together with three sons Philip Ray Davis, Joseph Earl Davis and Albert Lewis Davis. Sadly, Bud was tragically killed in a construction machine accident in 1957. Jennie later married John Burleson and moved the family to Anderson Ranch Reservoir in the late 1950's to run the Fall Creek Lodge. John and Jennie moved to Washington in the 1960's to work for Boeing and retired in the Port Angeles area. She enjoyed many visits with her grown children and grandchildren in the following years. She moved back to Payette, Idaho in 2004 after John's death and she has been active in the community since. She regularly attended Payette Nazarene Church and spent many treasured hours there with her friends. Jennie will be remembered for her kind spirit and loving gifts and cards. She loved to give treasured trinkets to her family that were uniquely Grandma inspired. She is survived by her children: Philip and Suzy Davis, Joe and Sherry Davis, and Albert and Laralee Davis; her 12 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren. Great Granddaughter Nichelle Nicole Summa preceded her in death on December 20, 1988. Services will be held at Payette Nazarene Church on Monday December 2nd at 3:00pm. Burial services will be at Sunset Cemetery, Twin Falls Idaho 1:00pm Tuesday December 3rd. Services are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel.
