Genevieve "Genny" Stapleton
April 4th, 1943 - June 17th, 2024
Genevieve (Genny) Fairchild Stapleton went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 17, 2024, at the age of 81. She was a wonderful person who was deeply loved by all who were blessed to know her.
Genny was born on April 4, 1943, in Hawkins County, TN to her late parents, John and Arthena Fairchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved brothers Joe, Ralph, Lowell, and Hugh Fairchild and sisters Mildred Wattenbarger and Beatrice Winstead, as well as brother-in-law Rev. Warren Wattenbarger.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Larry Stapleton of the home; as well as son, Wade Stapleton and wife Susie (Franklin, TN); daughters, Devonna Stapleton of Johnson City, TN and Julie Cathey and husband Dale (Murfreesboro, TN); grandchildren, Meg Farmer and husband Chandler (Thompson Station, Tn), Sara Matthews and husband Will (Murfreesboro, TN), Grace Cathey and Lizzy Cathey (Murfreesboro, TN.); great grandchildren Hank, Hazel and Hattie Farmer and Beau Matthews; brother, Arnold Fairchild of Rogersville; sisters-in-law Dorcus Fairchild also of Rogersville, TN. and Marcella Fairchild of Kingsport; along with several nieces and nephews.
Genny was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church in Kingsport, TN which she attended until declining health rendered her bed-ridden after which New Vision Baptist Church of Murfreesboro, TN became her de-facto home church which she enjoyed via streaming every Sunday.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 19, 2024 from 12:00 until 1:00 PM at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at Highland Cemetery in Rogersville, TN following the service.
The family would like to thank all those who rendered love and attention during this difficult time with special thanks to the caring employees of Amedisys.
