Genevieve Marie Young
June 29th, 1931 - February 1st, 2013
Genevieve M. Young Genevieve M. (Genny) Young, 81, of Tucson, formerly of Butler, PA and Broomfield, CO died February 1, 2013 at her home surrounded by her husband and children. Born June 29, 1931 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she is survived by her caregiver and beloved husband of sixty years, James C. Young, Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard A. Gillon and Genevieve M. (Renforth) Gillon. She is survived by her brother Richard U. (Betty Jane) Gillon of Marietta, Ohio and sister Nancy E. (Jim) Moyer of York, Pennsylvania, son, James (Sonja) Young; daughters, Cynthia A. (Daniel) Keough, Linda Young, Sue Luna, Lisa (Gerald) Faliano, Amy (Donnie) Thomas, Jill (Daniel) Lanning, Mary (Joseph) Vostrejs, Barbara (John) Giedraitis, Sally (Roger) Hall, and Carol (Richard) Wirth; twenty-three grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was a mother and an active volunteer in her community. She was a Catholic and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish in Tucson, AZ. She volunteered in schools and at Salpointe Catholic Thrift and Gift store. She served on the board of the Southern Arizona Square and Round Dance Association and on their festival committee. She also worked as registrar for the Tucson Convention Bureau. No matter her role, she always put others needs before her own. Genevieve loved to DANCE; she danced with the Turnpike Twirlers, Star Prowlers, Merry Mixers, and the C1-ders. She loved to TRAVEL; her travels with her husband spanned the globe. But most of all she loved and was very proud of her FAMILY. Those fortunate enough to be touched by her love have been truly blessed. Visitation 6:00 to 9:00 PM, Monday, February 4, 2013 at Bring’s Broadway Chapel, 6910 E. Broadway, with Rosary recited at 7:00 PM. Mass will be offered 10:30 AM, Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 215 S. Craycroft Rd.. Burial to follow in East Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
