Online Obituaries for Lexington, Gentery Richard McCormick {Pops} 91, of Lexington, KY, passed peacefully to his eternal rest on September 13, 2016. Born in Newark, New Jersey, he served in the US Marines during WWII on Green Island in the Philippines. Upon returning to the states he traveled this country that he loved from New Jersey to California. He moved to Lexington 28 years ago. He along with his son, Kevin opened The Bug Shopon Deroode Street, a VW repair shop. Later along with his grandson, Kristopher joining the business, the shop became South Hill Auto Repair. He was also proud of being a Mason. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen {Mike }Musselman, Claysburg, Pennsylvania; three sons, Gentrey Richard McCormick and his wife Caroline Shaputric, Escondido; Rory {Tammy} McCormick, Louisa, Virginia; Kevin Shane {Katie} McCormick, Lexington; four grandchildren, Kristopher Shawn McCormick, Edward {Kelly} Young, Meagan {Eban} Newman, Sarah Musselman and seven great grandchildren, Kevin Shane {Trey} McCormick III, Keenan Gentery McCormick, Kody Lee Lakes, Micah Newman, McKenzie Newman, Maddox Newman. He was preceded in death by his son, Shawn Curry McCormick, {CA} and his grandson, Kevin Shane McCormick II, {Lexington}. Funeral Information Visitation will be 10 am noon Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Clark Legacy Center Brannon Crossing followed by his service at noon with burial at Camp Nelson National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
