George P. Bishop
January 8th, 1934 - September 8th, 2007
"Belchertown-George P. Bishop, Jr., 73, of Franklin St. passed away September 8, 2007 at Baystate Medical Center. Born January 8, 1934 in Gardiner, Maine, the son of the late George P. Sr. and Doris (Lyons) Bishop. George was born and raised in Maine and has spent the last forty years in Belchertown. He was a member of the teamsters Local 404 and Local 671 until his retirement from Red Star Express in 1994. He previously worked construction in Northfield and Rowe, MA. George took much enjoyment in the outdoors while hunting and fishing. He will be greatly missed by his wife Barbara (Cook) along with his children Kevin and his wife Megan of Easthampton, Gary and his wife Amy of Holland, MA, and children from his previous marriage, Michael Bishop and Sheryl Rosa of Maine, Dennis Bishop and Steven Bishop of Westfield, MA, along with Kelly Ruszyk of CT. George also leaves two grandchildren Ashton and Michael Bishop, a half sister Virginia Hadsell of Maine, several nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. He was predeceased by his daughter Karen Hampton in 2003 and his brother Lloyd Bishop. Services will be privately held at the convenience of the family and Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. For those wishing, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice."
