George Honold
December 16th, 1934 - December 9th, 2022
George Honold passed away with his family by his side in Wheat Ridge, Colorado on December 9, 2022. He was born in Baileys Harbor, Wisconsin on December 16, 1934 to Charlotte and George Honold. He was the third of five children. After high school he graduated from Door-Kewaunee Teachers College and taught elementary school and also taught at the Army Security Agency School in Ft. Devens, Massachusetts. George went back to school and graduated from Regis University in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He worked for the U.S. Government for over 30 years in the Departments of Defense, Interior and Energy. He worked for the U.S. Geological Survey in Denver where he served as Regional Procurement Chief and Management Officer. George received numerous awards during his career including the Interior Department’s Meritorious Service Award. Upon retiring from the government in 1990, he went to work for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory as Subcontracts Manager. He is survived by his wife Ruth Honold; his children Brian Honold (Erika Hupperts), Scott Honold (Bonnie Honold) and Jennifer Metz (Jeff Metz); and his seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Private interment at Ft. Logan National Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be held by the family at a later date. The family requests contributions in his memory be made to Glory of God Lutheran Church www.gloryofgodchurch.net.
