George Raymond Kotil

George Raymond Kotil, 73, a 16 year resident of Las Vegas, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2014, surrounded by his wife and children. George was born July 12, 1940 in Chicago IL to the late George Raymond and the late Sophie (Wisniewski) Kotil. He earned a Bachelor's degree in music and a Master's degree in English, then had a career as a beloved public school teacher in Blue Island and Crestwood IL. George enjoyed playing the piano and was a volunteer with the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Community Funeral Ministry and Summerlin Hospital. George is survived by his wife of 50 years, Adrianne Kotil; children Doug (Diane) Kotil and Karen (Edward) Yurchik; grandchildren Megan and Kevin Kotil and Alexandria and Austin Yurchik; and sister Carolyn (Albert) Eret, all of the Chicago IL area. He was predeceased by grandchildren Brian and Ryan Kotil. A visitation will take place at 1:00 PM, with a funeral mass beginning at 1:30 PM on Friday, February 28, 2014, both at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Community, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89128. A memorial service and interment will take place at a later date in Chicago.
