George Carlton Lind
March 5th, 1940 - June 4th, 2023
George Carlton "Carl" or "Grandpy" Lind, 83 of Concord, NC died June 4th 2023, surrounded by his family. Born in Boston, MA on March 5th 1940. He was raised in Newton, Mass and was the oldest son of George and Kathleen Lind. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ann Marie DellaRocco Lind. He is predeceased by his two younger brothers, Douglas and Steven Lind. Carl Lind entered the US Navy in 1960 and served for 3 years until he was honorably discharged. During his time in the Navy, he began his college career at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA before transferring to Bentley College, graduating in 1972. He then graduated with a Masters of Business Administration from Babson College in 1976. Carl was active in Freemasonry. He joined Dalhousie Lodge in Newtonville, Massachusetts in 1972 and was elected Master of the Lodge. After moving to Waterville, Maine he joined and later became Most Wise Master of Emeth Chapter of Rose Croix in Augusta. After moving to Cape Elizabeth, Maine he joined Triangle Lodge in Portland. There he was able to witness his two sons join the Fraternity. He later went through the line of Dunlap Chapter of Rose Croix and served as Most Wise Master. He was presented the Meritorious Service Award from the Valley of Boston, Massachusetts. He was coronated a Sovereign Grand Inspector General 33rd Degree in 2004 in Milwaukee, WI. In June 2022, he traveled to Dalhousie Lodge where he was presented a Senior Past Master Certificate from the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts for having served in the Fraternity for 50 years as a Past Master. Throughout his years of masonry Carl and Ann Marie made many lifelong friends with whom they traveled, supported, celebrated and created many memories with. After a long career in sales, Carl and Ann Marie retired to Hilton Head South Carolina, where he was active in many groups, including the Sun City Veterans Association. Throughout his life Carl was an avid piano player and found joy in playing for his family. Most importantly Carl was a loving father to Robert and daughter-in-law Mary Lind of Portland, ME. Kathleen and son-in-law Chuck Needham of Concord, NC and Christopher Lind of Atlanta, GA. Carl was also a loving Grandpy to Briana Coleman, Augie Lind and Fiona Lind. Carl is also survived by nieces and nephews,Todd and his wife Kim Lind. Corinne and her husband Craig Fortin. Kristin and her husband Joe Stanton.
