In Loving Memory
In the poetic curve of life's intricate weave, we pause to honor George Parsons, who gently departed this world on August 29, 2024, leaving a tapestry of cherished memories woven with love and grace. Born on September 24, 1944, in the serene embrace of Floyd County, Kentucky, George nurtured roots that spread widely, yet always touched the heart of home. A life rich with learning, George Parsons was a scholar, proudly adorning his academic arsenal with two master's degrees. As a graduate of the University of Kentucky, and having attended Kentucky State University, he possessed a profound love for knowledge that flowed into every endeavor he undertook. His intellect and passion for education earned him positions of honor, including past President of the Kentucky Association of State Employees (KASE) and a former board member of Alice Lloyd College. In the role of a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, George was a beacon of hope and support, guiding countless lives towards a brighter horizon. His career was a testament to his unfaltering kindness and loyalty—traits that colored his every action and interaction. Kind and loyal, George was a soul who understood the profound joy in life’s simplest moments. He found sublime pleasure in the laughter and company of his grandchildren, traveling miles across all 50 states, exploring life's endless tapestry with the wind on his face and the world at his fingertips, often astride his beloved motorcycle. An avid reader and a gifted poet, his words danced like leaves in the autumn breeze, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate to know him. George's legacy is carried forward by his daughter, Sarah Parsons of Frankfort, Kentucky, and his son, Steve Parsons. His sister, Janice Routledge, also of Frankfort, Kentucky, joins them in a shared embrace of his memory. His seven grandchildren—Isaiah Pederson (Lauren), Eric Maxwell (Ryan Mitchell), Allie Cashan (Jesse), Staci Maxwell (Matthew Reagan), Madison Maxwell (Phil Dostart), Amelia Parsons (Gage Nolasco), and Nathan Parsons, along with his four great-grandchildren—Liam and Ivey Cashan, and Braxton and Georgia Pederson, continue to walk in the warmth of his light. George is also remembered by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Parsons and Allie (Smith) Parsons, his sisters Maggie Branham and Nellie Meade, and his brothers Russell Stephen Parsons and Bill Parsons. The community will gather to celebrate George's luminous life at the Clark Legacy Center, 3000 Versailles Road, Frankfort, Kentucky, on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. Family and friends will unite for consolation and reminiscence from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a service to follow at 7:00 p.m. In parting, let us recite the lines of his unstated poems, feel the rhythm of his untold stories, and find solace in the paths he wandered. George Parsons's spirit, as vibrant as a wildflower in full bloom, will forever echo through the hearts of those he touched. --- By drawing inspiration from George's love of poetry and his remarkable life journey, this obituary pays tribute to a man who found beauty in every moment and shared it generously with everyone around him.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest Memorial Contributions be made to Alice Lloyd College at alc.edu.
