George E. Pruitt
November 3rd, 1933 - April 22nd, 2014
Pruitt, George E. 80, of St. Petersburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, under the care of Hospice in Pinellas Park. He was born on November 3, 1933 in Madison, IN to Richard and Doris Pruitt. He was a successful restaurant owner of "The Narrow's in Marshall, IN, from 1960-1971. He also was a bus driver for the Turkey Run School District and drove the ambulance for the volunteer Marshall fire department. He later moved to Florida and worked for his brother Buck at Pruitt Pump Company. He then went to work for St. Petersburg College as a Maintenance Crew Leader, from where he retired in 1997. After retirement he also worked for his nephew at Earl Pruitt Well and Pump Service. George was an excellent handyman, he was always willing to help others with anything that needed to be done. Always willing to do more for others than he would do for himself. He was a member of the Masonic lodge (32nd degree). He enjoyed motorcycle riding, camping, fishing, boating, gardening, wood working and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his son, Tony Pruitt, step-daughter, Denise Glass and sister in law, Sarah Pruitt. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Joyce Pruitt; his two sons Larry Pruitt (Patty) of Albany, IN, and Bill Pruitt (Karen) of Marshall, IN; his three brothers, LaVern Pruitt (Mary) of Seminole, FL, Richard Pruitt of Hanover, IN and David Pruitt (Lois) of Lehigh Acres, FL; his 7 grandchildren, Tony Shannon Pruitt, of OH, Tony Pruitt (Dawn) of Fort Wayne, IN, Sam Pruitt (Melissa) of Indianapolis, IN, Justin Pruitt of Albany, IN, Natalie Pruitt of Redkey, IN, Jerermiah Pruitt (Kayla) of Crawfordsville, IN, and Katy Pruitt of Marshall, IN and 9 great grandchildren; Brody, Chandler, Eleanor, Sawyer, Dakken, Kelsie, Tristan, Zayden, Keelyn; 6 nephews, Earl Pruitt Sr, (Sonya) of Pinellas Park, FL, Daryl Pruitt (Susan) of Madison, IN, Bert Pruitt (Marci) of Seminole, FL, Charlie Pruitt of Madison, IN, Greg Pruitt (Margie) of Madison, IN, Mike Cook of Lehigh Acres, FL; and niece Diana Knepp (Dave) of Pinellas Park, FL; and many great nephews and nieces. He was a very generous, loving man with a wonderful sense of humor and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
