May 8th, 1929 - February 28th, 2013
Kernersville-George Donald Rose, 83, passed away on February 28, 2013. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 2:00PM Saturday March 2, 2013 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will be at Parklawn Cemetery in Winston-Salem. A native of Malverne, New York, George was the devoted son of the late Arthur and Marion Rose. He served his country with the US Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion for over 50 years. He lived in Long Island, NY and worked with his brother in the family plumbing business, Rose Plumbing & Heating. He began his retirement in 1985 and moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida. George and his wife Jane moved to Kernersville in 1996 and he enjoyed the remainder of his life as a North Carolinian. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by Arthur Sonny Rose. Survivors include his loving wife of 17 years Jane MacPherson of the home; daughters Terry Lynn Slattery and Edmond of NJ, Debra Rose-Mehr and Raymond of NY, and Barbara Lantz and Thomas of Kernersville; step-sons Andy MacPherson and Tammy, David MacPherson and Kim, and Bruce MacPherson and Leslie; grandchildren Joseph Gegan, Jacqueline Winters, Ryan Lantz, Samantha Stripeikis, Edward Duncan MacPherson, Lauren MacPherson, Shannon MacPherson, Collin MacPherson, Duncan White MacPherson, Heather MacPherson, Nicole MacPherson, and Alysha MacPherson; sister Arline Dooley of NY; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family will visit with friends from 5:30PM until 7:30PM Friday evening at the funeral home.
