A graveside service will be held at Glen Oaks Memorial Park in Chico on Friday, May 2, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. for George R. Thompson, Mr. Thompson passed away on April 26, 2008 in Paradise at the age of 95 years. George R. Thompson was born on January 1, 1913 in Santa Ana, CA to George P. And Margaret Thompson. George was a musician most of his life, playing the saxophone, trumpet, and clarinet, and he was also a retired Los Angeles County employee. George and his wife, LaVerna of 66 years were married on Jan. 25, 1942 in Los Angeles, CA. They lived in Paradise for 30 years and George was known by many residents for his long walks around town and always wearing a cap on his head, rain or shine. George is survived by daughter LaNette Six of Paradise, grandchildren Scott Green and Kellie York, great granddaughters Danielle, Veronica, MaKenna Green, and Gracie York all of Southern California. A visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5 until 8 P.M. in the Chapel of the Brusie Funeral Home in Chico.
