George William Ward
June 24th, 1929 - February 2nd, 2015
Bill Ward was born June 24, 1929 in Sacramento. He grew up in Fair Oaks, California. In 1947, he joined the US Navy and served aboard the USS Astoria as a radio operator. He married Yvonne on October 3, 1952. Yvonne had four children from a previous marriage and together they had two more children. After he left the service, he worked in general construction and began his career as a surveyor in 1958. He worked on many large construction projects with the Bechtel Group, including the Rancho Seco and San Onofre nuclear power facilities. After he retired, he moved to Washington State where he was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of building his own home. Bill loved observing life, hard work, and the tradition of sharing experience. He was always quick witted and prepared with a rhyme, entertaining song, or word from the wise to encourage others. Bill was widely known for his insightful problem solving, practical engineering, and his love for helping others. His loyalty, dedication, and great charm always kept him in high demand. Bill's experience and stories will certainly live on with those who shared in the life of such a character. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Yvonne, his sons Patrick and Kenneth. He is survived by his loving children Bill and his wife Stephanie, Yvonne Ward and her husband Robert Titley. He is also survived by his grandchildren Toni Edgerton, David Ward, Kristiana Moore, Joshua Titley, Kenneth Titley, Matthew Ward, Casey Ward, and Michael Griffen.
