George William Wood
November 1st, 1941 - August 20th, 2024
George W. Wood passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024, in Sacramento, CA at the age of 82. He was a spiritual man who lived the simple life on his property in Volcano, where he built his home himself and lived completely off the grid. He enjoyed panning for gold and hitting golf balls around with his long-time friend, Richard Lundgren and you never knew what those two would be up to or get into. If something needed fixing or modifying, George would be the person to go to. He was very talented from drawing and sketching to converting things from one item to another or bringing back a broken piece of equipment to working status. From driving logging trucks in his younger days for his father, operating different pieces of equipment, working for Volcano Telephone, to maintaining his property and home, George always knew how to keep himself busy.
He is proceeded in death by his dad, Victor Wood, Sr., mom, Grace Wood and brother, Richard Wood. George is survived by his sisters, Shirley Hardaway of Pine Grove, CA and Sylvia Cooper of Stockon, CA; brother, Victor Wood, Jr of Idaho; nephews, Richard Rankin of Pioneer, Don Wood of Ione, Dennis Wood of Idaho, James Cassidy of Stockton; nieces, Patty Mahaney of Ione, Debbie Beshears of Ione, Diane Henricus of Ione as well as great nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Daneri Mortuary Chapel, Jackson, CA at 10:00 a.m.
