Ways you can honor Georgia's memory:
Georgia (Cox) Dvorak, 75, of Merritt Island, FL died Tuesday after a short fight with Lymphoma, but mostly from a broken heart following the loss of her husband, Joseph in October 2015. Born in Topeka, KS in 1941 to Ralph and Frances Cox, Georgia learned the virtue of hard work at a young age helping pick vegetables in the family's garden, raising chickens for their family, and working at the soda fountain at Kresge at the age of fourteen. The Topeka flood of 1951 stood out in her mind when she recalled events of her childhood and she often spoke of her parents' hard work rebuilding after the devastation and the loss of her little black cat. After high school Georgia attended IBM keypunch school and landed a job helping load driver license data into the state's new computers. While working there she met Joseph, her husband and best friend of 53 years. She enjoyed boating and water-skiing with Joe and told stories of some of their outings together. The couple moved several times with Joe's job, spending time in Oklahoma, New Mexico and California before settling in Merritt Island in 1965. In 1972 the couple bought an auto-parts store in Cocoa Beach. In the early days, Georgia worked with Joe at the store on Sundays and spent most evenings doing the bookkeeping. As their children got older, Georgia got more involved at the store and spent over 20 years working beside Joe. She loved selling to customers at the Space Center and Port Canaveral, and especially enjoyed handing out hundreds of NAPA calendars every year. Georgia enjoyed sharing hospitality with others and left a trail of smiles with her outgoing personality. She took her role as wife and mother to heart and no one ever wanted for a home-cooked meal or clean clothes. When her kids were young, Georgia was active in the Audubon PTO and served as the president for several years. She was queen of her local Red Hats chapter for several years and loved having luncheons with the friends she met there. The family would like to thank Hospice at Cape Canaveral Hospital and the many doctors and staff that helped Georgia throughout the years. Georgia is survived by her three children, Stephanie (Todd) Brandenburg, Daniel (Amy Marie) Dvorak and Amy Lynn Dvorak; grandchildren, Sara and Emma Brandenburg, Joseph, Rose and Daniel Dvorak; her brother Wayne Cox and many nieces and nephews.
