Ways you can honor Georgia Mae's memory:
Georgia Mae Curtis Varner, 81, passed away on Tuesday May 7, 2019 at Runk & Pratt Assisted Living Village in Hardy, VA. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday May 9, 2019 at 2:00PM, Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1:00pm-2:00pm with interment following at Lakeview Memorial Park. Georgia was born on July 28, 1937 in Greensboro to the late BA Curtis and Eula Mae Curtis. She graduated from Greensboro Senior High in 1955, shortly after she married her high school sweet heart, Donnie. She then began her career as a secretary and raised two children as a loving mother and grandmother. Georgia resided in Greensboro until 2011, but due to health issues moved to an assisted living facility at Smith Mountain Lake, VA. She is survived by, her children, Sherri V. Ward (Gene) and Mike Varner (Sharon); grandchildren, Amber Leggett (Cody) , Jason Varner (Katie); great-grandchildren, Turner and Griffin Leggett, and Merritt Varner; sister, Mary C. Denson (David); brother, Richard Curtis (Ellen); and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald A. Varner. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Runk & Pratt. They tirelessly worked to keep her happy, comfortable, and safe; for that we will forever be grateful. In lieu of flowers the family request that a purchase be made at QVC or the Home Shopping Network in Georgia’s memory. On a more serious note, please make donation to Medi Home Health & Hospice (4415 Pheasant Ridge Road, Suite 102 Roanoke, VA 24014) or Carillion Franklin County Hospice (180 Floyd Ave. Rocky Mount, VA 24151).
