Georgia Neilsen

Georgia Neilsen, 62, left us on October 28th, 2017 after a short, yet courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Georgia was born November 26th, 1954 in Grinnell, Iowa to George and Margaret Bell. Her family moved to Colorado in 1958. After graduating from Las Animas High School, Georgia moved to Denver to attend Metropolitan State College of Denver (now Metropolitan State University of Denver). It was during college that Georgia met her husband, Kris, in an anthropology class. Kris and Georgia married in 1979 and started a family welcoming first a daughter, Heidi, and then a son, Kristopher. Georgia later went back to Metropolitan State College of Denver and finished her college degree, graduating with a Bachelors of Arts in History with a minor in Anthropology. She was the first member of the family to graduate with a bachelor’s degree. Georgia was a proud employee of the Rangeview Library District for over 22 years, where she met many of her lifelong friends. She also led a Genealogy group to help library patrons get to know their own ancestors. Georgia’s many interests included antiquing, reading, traveling, spending time with her family and most recently, listening to country music. Georgia is preceded in death by her father, George Bell; mother, Margaret Bell; and brother, Louis Bell. Georgia is survived by her husband, Kris Neilsen; brother, Daryl Bell; half-brothers, Dan Galley, Dale Galley and half-sister, Denise Clark; daughter, Heidi Flowers; son Kristopher Neilsen (Sadie Hughes); and grandchildren, Katelyn Arnold, Logan Flowers and Koa Neilsen.
