Gerald Russell Brown
October 26th, 1955 - February 18th, 2013
Born on October 26th 1955, to Peggy and Allen (Al) Brown in South Bend, Washington. On Monday, February 18th 2013, Gerald passed away from a very short battle with cancer in Puyallup, Washington; his loving wife Dana by his side. Gerald and Dana married on May 30th 1992 after a very long engagement of seven years. Gerald graduated from Bates Technical College in 1979 in the trade of Molder and Coremaker. His “home away from home” was at Bradken Atlas foundry for over 22 years as a Lead Journeyman Molder. Gerald worked in multiple positions during his 36 year career in the foundry business. The many attendance awards he received over the years, showed his dedication. He loved what he did and the people he worked with. Of the many things Gerald enjoyed doing; fishing and hunting were on the top of his list. He loved taking his family and friends, whether it be going out on his boat, with a guide or on a charter; river, lake, bay or ocean, hunting in Montana or anywhere in Washington. Even though fishing and hunting were his priorities, Gerald loved dirt bike riding with his family and friends also. He loved hard rock music, especially the Rolling Stones and liked some country western for his wife; loved cooking and barbequing fabulous meals for his family and clam digging with his grandchildren. Gerald lived his life unpretentiously and was a man who worked hard and played even harder! Those fortunate enough to learn his hobbies from him, where truly blessed, especially his children who will pass his amazing skills and the love of the outdoors onto their children. Gerald believed in giving to others so much, he was an organ donor. Because his body was riddled with cancer he was not able to donate his organs but was able to donate his corneas to help at least two people see again! To honor Gerald, cash donations may be made in this name at the below links. For more information on organ donations or to make a cash donation, please see http://www.sightlife.org/about/ or http://www.cancer.org/index. If Gerald was here today, he would tell you, especially his co-workers “If you have back pain, see a Doctor! Have x-rays!” His family urges you to follow this advice and the life you save, may be your own. Cancer knows no race, age or sexual orientation! Gerald was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife Dana, his sister Geraldine O’Connell of Keizer, Oregon; his brother Terry (Denise) of Bonney Lake, Washington. His five children Allen (Mandy) of Bonney Lake, Jennifer (Michael) of Puyallup; Tandi (Kelly), Daniel and Robert, all of Bonney Lake. His grandchildren Erin (20), Julianna (17), Nichalas (13), Alex (13), Christian (6), Kyler (6), Cooper (2), Aries (2) and a new grandchild on the way due in October. Many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, & Friends. Gerald will be missed by all the lives he has touched. His family will miss his amazing fish fry’s and barbeques; homemade tartar sauce, dill/ranch dip, canned pickles and smoke salmon the most, besides him, of course! “It is what it is.” A “Celebration of Gerald ‘s Life” will be held in his honor: Sunday March 3rd 2013 from 2pm to 5pm. Chamber’s Bay Environmental Service Building, 9850 64th Street W, University Place, WA 98467. Directions: From North or South I-5, follow 56th Street West to the very end (The road changes names several times) and take a left on Grandview. If you reach the Pet Cemetery, you went too far!
