Gerald "Jerry" Lee Delo
February 26th, 2019
The family of Gerald “Jerry” Lee Delo regretfully announces the passing of their beloved husband, father, brother and uncle on February 26, 2019. Jerry, age 62, was an Erie, Pennsylvania native and a graduate of Westminster College. After graduation, he began his career at the Department of Labor, where he worked for nearly 40 years until his retirement as a deputy director in March 2018. Jerry loved spending time with his family and friends, often hosting parties and making time to attend celebrations of all kinds. He had a deep love of sports, and was a devoted Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech fan. He enjoyed the outdoors, finding a particular love for the majestic views of the Canadian and Colorado Rockies. With two of his best friends, he completed climbs of 30 of the Colorado 14ers. Recently, he found a new passion for travel with his wife Esther, making trips to Hawaii, Italy, Israel and India. Jerry had a quick and easy laugh and a sympathetic ear – he was a thoughtful friend to many, and he will be greatly missed. Jerry is survived by his loving wife Esther, cherished daughter Kristin (Dan and mother Ann), and treasured brothers Mike (Vicki) and Jeff (Donna), as well as aunt Betty, cousin Steve, nieces and nephew Christine (Kevin), Devin and Katie, and great-nephew and great-niece, Jason and Ava. Jerry is also survived by parents-in-law Rev. Dr. Krishna and Tabitha, brothers-in-law John (Sonia), Charles and Sam, and nieces and nephew Charles, Sophie and Tabitha. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Jean Delo, his nephew Michael Delo, and brother-in-law Joshua Ajjarapu. The family will be receiving friends at Advent Funeral Services in Falls Church, Va. on Friday, March 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Alexandria, Va. on Saturday, March 9 at 11:00 a.m., with interment immediately following at Columbia Gardens Cemetery, in Arlington, Va. Reception and celebration of Jerry’s life will be held afterward – his family encourages everyone to come to remember and celebrate him at Green Spring Gardens from 1 to 4 p.m. Donations gratefully accepted in Jerry’s name to: THON.org Michael Delo Scholarship Fund Checks should be made payable to “Penn State,” with ‘Michael Delo Endowed Scholarship’ in memo section and sent to: Gina M.
