Gerald (Jerry) Herder of Thornton died on May 7, 2014 at the age of 80. He was born on June 11, 1933 in Edgemont, SD and raised in Pavillion, WY. After 1 year at the University of Wyoming and 4 years in the Air Force, he moved to Denver to attend Barnes Business College in 1958. There he met his wife Josephine (Jo) of 54 years and raised 4 children -Jeanine (Jack) Salewski of Littleton, Sandra (Terry) Mortenson of Lakewood, David Herder of Thornton, and Carrie (John) Lyons of Fort Collins. In addition to being survived by his wife and children, he is survived by 8 grandchildren-Brandon (Pamela) Salewski, Logan Salewski, Dylan Salewski, Cameron Salewski, Bryan Mortenson, Kevin Mortenson, Jason Mortenson, Jenna Lyons, his sister-Margaret Cavanaugh of Grand Junction, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to bookkeeping for many years and then recruiting engineers, he sold tickets for many of the Denver Sports teams (such as the Denver Bears, Denver Zephyrs, Colorado Rockies, Denver Rockets, Denver Nuggets, and National Western Stock Show.) He also reconciled parking sales for the Denver Broncos and the Air Force Academy football. He shared and passed on his love of sports to his children and grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 2567 W. Iliff Avenue, Denver, CO 80219 on Saturday May 17th at 11:00 am with a luncheon reception to follow.
