Jerry was born on December 1st, 1956 in Medford, Wisconsin, the son of Marie (Mis) Niznik and Paul Niznik. He grew up on a dairy farm outside of Withee, Wisconsin with 5 brothers: Paul Jr., Robert, Ronald, Gary, Daniel and 4 sisters: Bonnie, Marlene, Pauline and Sherrie. Jerry moved to Colorado in 1980 with his girlfriend Colleen (Kye) Mahoney and resided in Colorado Springs, Colorado. His hard work ethic growing up on a dairy farm served him well as he obtained work in the construction industry. Working for major construction companies renowned in Colorado Springs to this day: L R Johnson, R E Monks, Nunn Construction, T-Bone Construction and more, Jerry gained experience in concrete foundation work, framework and carpentry. He helped construct a United States Post Office, Hilton Hotel, the first Olympic-size swimming pool at Fountain-Fort Carson High School, numerous commercial businesses and a water treatment plant. Jerry built army barracks and buildings at Fort Carson Army Base, did carpentry work at Peterson Air Force Base, Schriever Air Force Base and the United States Air Force Academy. In 1993, Jerry formed his own tree and stump removal business. With his agility at using a chain saw, Jerry removed hundreds of trees at residential and commercial businesses, provided stump removal, and split, sold and delivered firewood to residences and restaurants. Jerry spent weekends exploring the Colorado Mountains near alpine streams and lakes. Mountain camping, hiking and canoeing were his favorite pastimes. He and his wife also vacationed in western states including Utah, Nevada, California and Oregon. Jerry loved nature and animals and thoroughly appreciated seeing wildlife during his many adventures. He and his wife journeyed many times back to Wisconsin to visit family and friends, and enjoy boating and swimming in lakes. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Marie Niznik, his brothers: Ronald Niznik, Gary Niznik and Danny Niznik, He is survived by his wife, Colleen Mahoney, brothers: Paul Niznik Jr., Robert Niznik, sisters: Bonnie (Pawelko), Marlene (Eisner), Pauline (Williams), Sherrie Niznik, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
