Gerald Thomas Prater

Warner Robins, Georgia - Gerald Thomas Prater, 84, went home to be with his personal Lord and Savior on Friday, September 30, 2022. A visitation with family and friends will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2022 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. A Memorial Service honoring the life of Gerald will be held on Monday, October 3, 2022 at 11:00AM at Centerville United Methodist Church. Gerald was born on May 22, 1938 in Ohio. Gerald was a man who carried himself with a high level of integrity and it showed in all that he did. From a young age, he possessed a strong calling to serve others, in doing so he enlisted into the United States Air Force at the young age of 17. Gerald served his country with honor and integrity for 20 faithful years. Upon his retirement he continued to serve as a civilian at Robins Air Force Base where he would retire from his second career. When Gerald was not working he could be found surrounded by those he loved and cherished while expressing his warm and infectious smile. He was a man of faith and taught his family the importance of serving the Lord your god with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength. Gerald was a faithful member of Centerville United Methodist Church where he was involved in a numerous of ministries including driving the bus to church trips. He will forever be remembered for his charismatic personality and the love he had possessed for his family, but an even stronger love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In addition to his loving parents, there awaiting for Gerald at the gates of heaven was his beloved brother, Ronnie Prater. Left to cherish the beautiful memory that Gerald leaves behind is his beloved bride of the last 66 years, Mary Prater; Children, Linda Thames, Michael Prater (Bonnie), Julie Mixon (Jerry); Brother, James Prater. Gerald is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Gerald is also survived by a host of extended family members and countless friends.
