Gerald Francis Ruger, Sr.

Gerald Francis Ruger, Sr., age 83, of Fort Mohave, AZ died Thursday, August 12, 2010 in Las Vegas, NV. Gerald was born July 17, 1927 in Davenport, SD. He is the son of the late Jacob Ervin and the late Marie Frances (Bracht) Ruger. Gerald grew up in on a farm in Cedar County Nebraska and was drafted into the army at age 17, serving during World War II. He moved to California in the early 1950's where he met and married Catherine, his wife of 55 years. Together they raised 9 children in Redondo Beach. He was a truck driver and owned a trucking company. Gerald's passions included his family and golf. He was a hard-working man and the "father of the neighborhood." After his retirement in 1990, Gerald moved to Corona CA and then to Fort Mohave AZ in 2004, where he was actively involved with the Honor Guard for the VFW Post 404. Gerald is survived his wife, Catherine Ruger of Fort Mohave AZ; children Sue Glendenning of Irvine CA, Jerry (Karen) Ruger Jr. of Long Beach CA, Don (Linda) Ruger of Anniston AL, Joe (Amy) Ruger of Taiwan, Jenny (Brian) Brown of Yukon OK, Rev. Eileen Ruger of China, Diana (Dwayne) Anthony of Tulare CA, John (Pina) Ruger of Lakewood CA and Lyle (Kellie) Ruger of Hisperia CA; grandchildren Madisen, Jake, Zackary, AJ, Justin, Jessica, Robert, Christina, Emily, Bryan, Leo, Allison and John; Siblings Richard (Mary) Ruger of Madison SD, Rita Woodard of Norfolk NE, Norma (Mert) Sassaman of Ft. Mohave AZ, Ann (Duane) Vock of Mission KS, Kenny (Liz) Ruger of West Pointe NE, Betty (Loren) Ingalls of Sergeant Bluff IO, Donald Ruger of San Francisco CA, Lyle (Vickki) of Redondo Beach CA. Gerald has an amazingly close family who loves and honors him. The family thanks the extended family and friends for all of the thoughts and prayers.
