Geraldine "Jeri" Quinn

May 28th, 1936 - August 30th, 2024

Geraldine (Jeri/Sweets) Quinn, 88, of Arlington, Virginia passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024 in Fairfax County, Virginia. 

 

Jeri was born in Winchendon, Massachusetts to Myrtle (Tiny) and Thomas Quinn on May 28, 1936.  She attended high school at St. Bernard’s High School in Fitchburg, MA, and graduated in 1954.  She went on to earn an A.A.S. in Security Administration in 1984 from Northern Virginia Community College in Alexandria, Virginia.

 

Jeri is survived by her four daughters, two sisters, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her mother, Myrtle (Tiny) Quinn, father, Thomas Quinn and sister Lillian (Terri) Gilbert.

 

Jeri worked a total of 23 years at the US Department of Defense. She began her career as a work order clerk with the department of Army at Ft. Devens, MA.  From there she was offered a promotion at the Pentagon in Washington, DC, the office of the Judge Advocate General (JAG), and concluded her Federal Civilian service as a Command Operations Security (OPSEC) Officer, Intelligence and Security Division, Department of Army.  She was a site and resident property manager in Las Vegas, NV, and Leominster, MA, and a leasing agent.  In June, 2012, she volunteered as an Election Officer appointed by the mayor, and confirmed by the City Council for the City of Leominster, Massachusetts.

 

Jeri moved to Culpepper Garden Senior Center, Arlington, VA in May, 2017.  During her time at Culpepper Garden, she continued to volunteer and give back to her community.  She served as treasurer of the CG Residents’ Association. Additionally, she baked, decorated and delivered birthday cakes to all residents on their birthdays.

 

Her hobbies were many, she enjoyed crocheting blankets, making tiered wedding cakes and custom birthday cakes, and for 35 years, loved working on her massive family genealogy. 

 

To honor her wishes, there will be no services.  

 

Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, 357 Main Street, Leominster, MA on a date to be determined.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for the outstanding care provided by the nurses and staff at the Virginia Hospital Center, Arlington, VA.
