Gerard Smith Sr.

June 4th, 1944 - March 18th, 2017

Gerard "Smitty" P. Smith Sr., 72, of Sun City, Ariz., formerly of Farmington NM, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017, at his home in Sun City, Ariz. He was born June 4, 1944, in New York. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, graduated from ASU with a Bachelor's of Science and worked for APS as a Materials Forman for 16 years. He then went into business for himself in sales, which was his passion. Smitty loved volunteering, golf, politics, telling jokes and stories. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, United Blood Services, American Legion, and National Republican Committee. Smitty is predeceased by his parents, Francis and Ethel Smith, and his sister Lorrie Reilly. Smitty is survived by his wife, Barbara Smith; sisters Catherine Mills (Jim), Christine Notarnicola (Al); Brothers: Frank Smith (Susan), Robert Smith (Marilyn) and Richard Smith. Daughter; Crystal Gates (Cliff), sons; Gerard "Gerry" Smith and Frank Smith (Heather). Grandchildren; Kai Rhead (Jordan), Georgina Bustamante, Emeric and Aurora Smith. Great-grandchildren Dixie and Jude Rhead. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 1 at the Regency Mortuary, 9850 W. Thunderbird Road in Sun City, Ariz.
