Gerry M. Gahan

Our beloved sister and aunt, Gerry M. Gahan, died on September 4, 2020 at the age of 93. She is survived by her sister, Jane T. Hughes and brother, Larry J. Gahan. Her brothers, Tom W. Gahan, died on 10/31/2006 and Jack H. Gahan on 1/31/2015. Gerry was an aunt and a second mother to over 100 nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews. Gerry was born to George W. Gahan and Myra M. Armbruster at Columbus Hospital in Seattle, Washington, at 9:45 PM on April 20, 1927. She attended Aquinas Academy High School in Tacoma, WA and was a graduate of Seattle University in Secretarial Science. She worked for US West Communications from 1947 to 1986. Gerry’s passions were her family and traveling. She took many trips with her parents, George and Myra, and often took one of her nieces or nephews with her. While her travels took her to many different places, Europe was a favorite travel spot as her brothers Tom and Larry lived in a variety of European communities. She also enjoyed a trip (or several!) to Las Vegas or Reno and spending an afternoon at a slot machine brought her much joy and happiness, especially when she could share it with her family. Gerry was a compassionate and giving person. She remembered everyone on their birthdays and holidays and her “birthday boxes” to her nieces and nephews were legendary. The dollar bills tucked between the pages of the books, the rolls of quarters for future casino trips, the thoughtful trinkets, all were thoughtfully given and were treasured by the recipient. Gerry also loved her camera and we are grateful for the pictures that she took as we have loving and lasting memories of our times together. Each and every member of our family was touched by Gerry’s love. Her faith in God never wavered and we know that the celebration in heaven with her family is a joyous affair. We all know how much Gerry loved a good party! We will miss you dear Sister and Aunt and we will treasure the time we had with you. Funeral services will be held at St. Mathews Church and Gerry will be buried next to her parents at Holyrood Cemetery.
