Biography Kernersville-Gertrude Crosland King, 92, went home to be with her Lord Sunday November 6, 2011. A native of Columbia, South Carolina she was the daughter of the late Nettie Brazell and Harman F. Crosland. She graduated from Columbia High School and attended the University of South Carolina and Tulsa University. She studied piano, violin, and voice as a young lady and was a member of the Columbia High School Orchestra. She was a longtime member of Woodruff Road Christian Church. She also was a Sunday School teacher, Circle Bible leader, and choir member including being a soloist. She was the only female member of the first Clemson, SC Homeowner's Associations Board of Directors. She also served as the first female President of the Clemson Sage Club, a long established dinner and education organization. For ten years she served as a featured speaker for Christian Women's Club Luncheon and After Five meetings throughout the Southeastern States. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband Morris Audrey King and a sister Aunnie Lou Parrish. Survivors include her daughters Marcia King of Decatur, Georgia, and Kathy Murray and Scott of Kernersville; son Ron King and Leslie Tweed King of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren Amanda, Charlie, Kyra, and Paul. The family will visit with friends in the Reflections Room of Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-6pm in the afternoon.
