Gertrude Noel Shumann

Shumann, Gertrude Noel, 102, of St. Petersburg, FL passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at Sterling House in Tallahassee, FL. The daughter of Mary and Albert Noel, Gertrude was born March 17, 1903, in Cresson, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Harold Shumann, her parents, and eight brothers and sisters. A kind and caring person with a strong Catholic faith, ?Trudy? will be remembered for her strength of character, good nature, upbeat personality, sense of humor, a bit of mischievousness, and her devotion to family. During her marriage to Harold, she became an avid golfer, licensed airplane pilot, and seasoned traveler, as well as caretaker of their extensive family farm in Louisville, KY. Most of her later years were lived at Five Towns in St. Petersburg where she enjoyed water aerobics, bowling, and bingo with her sisters and many friends, especially Elsie Williams. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Noel and Terry Shumann of Dillard, GA; her son and daughter-in-law, William and Judith Shumann, Fairfield Bay, AR; and daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Mike Daniels of Tallahassee, FL; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and by many nieces and nephews including Geraldine Nagle of Canton, MI and Lucille Barton of St. Petersburg. Gertrude?s secret to life was her zest for always being on the move toward new experiences and never letting an opportunity pass her by. She was always the first to say ?Let?s get going!?
