Single, Gertrude, 83, of St. Petersburg, died Thursday, August 1, 2002 at Bay Pines Medical Center. Born in Metz, Michigan, she moved here in 1990 from Baltimore, MD. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church of St. Petersburg. She was a Staff Sergeant with the US Army where she was awarded a Victory Medal. She was a WWII Army veteran. She was a Beautician, Photographic Retoucher, and Retail Sales Manager. She was a member of the Daughter of Isabella, St. Ignatius Parish, and a long-time volunteer at the Bay Pines Veterans Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, John M. Single, one daughter Dr. Charlotte Rose Rios of Palm Desert Ca, two sons, Dale Arthur Single of St. Petersburg and Jon Allen Single of Blanchard Idaho; two sisters, Leona Ostrofsky of Southgate MI, and Millie Kolar of Roseville, MI. One brother Donald Kendzorski of St. Claire Shores MI, and one grandchild. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes & Cremation Tribute Center-Bobbitt Chapel.
