Gilberto H. Gonzalez
September 22nd, 2020
Gilberto H. Gonzalez, a man although short in stature, there will be no doubt that his presence was felt. Putting such a larger-than-life man into words is nearly impossible. Gilberto was born March 14, 1947 in El Paso, TX to Pedro and Guadalupe (Perez) Gonzalez, one of four siblings. He first married Margarita Muniz, which blessed the world with two daughters and a son, 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. In 1995, he headed to Juarez, Mexico with intentions to meet a woman, which he ended up not liking. As God would have it, he had an angel of a woman in mind. He saw Cesaria and his attention was captured, returning a week later with her. They married and established roots in the United States, celebrating 25 years and expanding their family with three more daughters and three sons, 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Gilbert worked and retired from the Electric Company. Not one to be idle, he went back to work at Wal-Mart and was a foreman for a janitorial service. They were also members of Christ Community Church. Throughout his life, Gilbert could be seen as a friendly man, always visiting with others and meeting people. Friends and family can attest to great memories of him fishing, camping, finding the best spots and sharing his wealth of knowledge in survival skills, hunting and cooking. A true jokester, the sign of his happiness could always be seen in his dancing. His expressed happiness as he whipped out his red hankie and twirled it above his head. His home was always the starting place for those who arrived to the U.S. Surrounded by endless comings and goings of laughter with children and adults, he would always joke for everyone to "keep it down”. The family sight of him comfortably in his chair will always bring a smile. His home was a place of abundant laughter, love and endless nights of loteria, cups of coffee and Mexican bread. Gilbert was always there with words of wisdom to remind everyone that in arguments, we take it one day at a time. He was there for laughs as he would bounce up from falls with twisted glasses. We can’t possibly capture the impact he left, the impression he made, the lives he touched, the laughter he provided, the comfort and warmth from his home, the immeasurable memories crafted and perfectly preserved with humor and love. Gilbert was a good husband, a best friend, a rock, an example of determination and strength as a father, uncle and man who’s life was lived as he wanted. Although his physical presence is no longer here, we can live through his memories, principles, wisdom and passion. Each of these can be found in every one of his family and he will never be forgotten. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family. He was preceded in death by his siblings, a daughter, one grandchild and one great-grandchild. May God greet him with open arms into His kingdom as he leaves ours here on earth. Visitation 3-4 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Adamson followed by a Life Celebration at 4 p.m. A reception will follow in the Adamson Reception Center.
