Mrs. Gladys L. Paul Barclay, age 88 of Gloversville, died Monday, June 5, 2006 at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility, Gloversville, where she had resided since October of 2004. Gladys was born on April 11, 1918 in Osborne's Bridge, NY, a daughter of the late John and Lillian Roosevelt Paul. She was educated in Broadalbin schools, and was employed as a leather glove maker for over 50 years by various local glove manufacturers. Her last employment was at J'Mar Glove Company in Gloversville. On March 28, 1937 Gladys was married to Earl Barclay who died on November 5, 1986. Gladys and Earl, who were married for nearly 50 years, were well known for their deep dedication to their entire family. Their thoughtfulness, care and concern for five generations of their family will always be appreciated by the entire Barclay and Paul family. Survivors include several nieces, nephews and cousins. Gladys was preceded in death by her siblings, Leon Paul, John Paul, Marjorie Paul, Pansy Barclay, Genevieve Paul and Fannie Sutliff. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Thursday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm Thursday with the Rev. Wayne E. Jones Sr. officiating. Interment will take place at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd; Loudonville, NY 12211
