Gladys Marie King
July 30th, 1922 - February 13th, 2012
GLADYS MARIE KING, 89, of Englewood passed away to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, February 13, 2012. Born on July 30, 1922 in Simms, Texas she had been a resident of Englewood for ten years coming from Farmington, Michigan. This beautiful woman was once the first runner up for Miss Michigan and was one of the most talented and gifted gardeners and florist we have ever known. She will be remembered for her accomplishments as a past president of the Hill and Dale Garden Club of Farmington, Michigan, an active member of the Lemon Bay Garden Club of Englewood, FL. Her love of art and the beauty of nature were displayed in every aspect of her creativity. The art which she created has touched the lives of many of her friends and family and will for years to come. "Marie" is survived by her loving husband of sixty years: John S. King and her two sons: Guy S. (Elizabeth) King of Traverse City, MI and Gary E. (Penney) King of Simpsonville, SC; four grandchildren: Kerry, Eric, Ian and Danielle King; daughter-in-law: Sharon King; one sister: Lois Sewejkis; eight brothers: Bill, W.E., Chuck, David, Carl, Larry, Jerry and John Cox. Marie joins her predeceased sons: Ronald James King and John M. King. She will be truly missed - she was a blessing on this world. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2012 from 10 Am until service time at 11 AM at the Englewood Community Funeral Home, 3070 South McCall Road. Interment will follow in Gulf Pines Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lemon Bay Garden Club (Scholarship Fund) Post Office Box 1176, Englewood, FL 34295 in memory of Gladys King.
