Lexington, KY Gladys Cornett Durbin Powell, 94, died September 17, 2016. She was born on January 6, 1922 in Letcher County, KY to the late Walter and Dora Foutch Cornett. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Barber of Kansas; granddaughter Cecilia (John) VanHooser of Georgetown, Evonne (Larry) Highley of Kansas, Tina (Mark) Davis of Florida and Carolyn (Arlan) Bebermeyer of Kansas; 16 great grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill Powell; daughter Jeannie Newby; granddaughter Debbie Watts and an infant son Terry. She attended Open Door Church. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff in A Wing at Homestead Nursing Home for the excellent care and kindness that they provided during her stay. Funeral Information Memorial Service will be held 4pm-6pm, Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Open Door Church at 749 Addison Avenue, Lexington, Kentucky 40504. Burial will be 2:30 PM, Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
