Glenn Ellis

Glenn Ellis passed away after a long illness, on October 27, 2013. Glenn was born in Phoenix, Ariz. to Thomas Clyde and Ann (Korosec) Ellis. The family moved back to Colorado when he was 4 years old. He is survived by his brother Leonard Ellis and many loving cousins. He graduated from Regis High School in 1959, and attended the University of Colo., majoring in Sociology and Psychology. He worked in youth ministry, and assisted in the establishment of Savio House in Denver where he was Head Counselor for 35 teenagers. He then established a Youth Ministry in the western area of Colo. serving twelve mountain parishes, plus 20 missions. He then became the director of religious education and youth ministry for the Catholic church in Aspen. After that he returned to Denver and continued youth ministry for five North Denver parishes and also was responsible for directing the Northwest Coalition for Better Schools as part of the Denver Public School system. Later he accepted a position with Community College of Denver as a student services specialist and case manager. Glenn continued to counsel and assist youth and others on a pro bono basis until the time he became ill. He will be missed by all the people who were touched by his work and kindness, including the former children of St. Vincent’s home where he did volunteer work in the 1950’s while attending Regis High. Funeral Mass Wednesday, November 6, 7:00 pm, at Holy Family Church 4377 Utica St. followed by a reception next door in the Church Community Center.
