Glenn McMahan
December 14th, 1908 - July 15th, 2006
William Glenn McMahan was born December 14, 1908, in the small village of Farmington, Texas. His parents were James Wood and Sarah Jane nee Douglas. They lived on a small, rented farm and were share-croppers. Glenn accepted Christ at the age of 13. In 1927, the family moved to Pueblo, Colorado. Glenn attended Central High School. There he met Erma May Hinshaw. Glenn moved to Denver after High School and attended Denver University. After an engagement period of four years, Glenn and Erma were married on May 8, 1932. They lived lives faithful to each other, others and God for over 54 years. Erma passed away on December 28, 1986. Glenn continued in church activities at Trinity Baptist Church, where he met Dora Sherman, a widow of a Baptist Pastor. Glenn and Dora were married on November 26, 1993. They both are dedicated to God and their families. Glenn and his family are charter members of Trinity Baptist Church. He held various offices at Trinity and its predecessor and other Baptist and Christian organizations. Professionally, he was a banker for 28 years, a life insurance executive for 3 years, a representative of Wheaton College for 8 years, and the first Director of Stewardship of the Conservative Baptist Association of America., including the Home and Foreign Mission Societies, for 5 years. He and Erma traveled 500,000 miles by car in the Lord"s work. After retirement in 1973, Glenn continued to be active at Trinity and helped Christians with estate matters, whose estates benefitted Christian causes substantially. In addition to his wife, Dora, Glenn is survived by his daughter, Glenna Joyce McMahan Bigelow. Grandchildren are Linda Bigelow Young, Laurel Bigelow Simpson, Deborah Bigelow Maxcy, Donovan Bigelow, Glenn Arlan McMahan, Deborah Joyce McMahan, Michelle Long Kerr and Trey Long. Great grand children are Kyle Young, Teri Young, James Maxcy, Heather Maxcy, Kristina Simpson, Donovan N. Bigelow, Ashlynn Ann Bigelow, Sophia Grace Bigelow, Connor McMahan, Thomas McMahan, Kendra McMahan, Megan Kerr, Cody Kerr, and Gene Cherry, nephew. His step children are Dora"s two daughters, Diane Sherman Maurer, and Elaine Sherman Lovell. Dora has 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, "Woody" and "Janey" McMahan, sister Hazel McMahan (aged 26) and sister Lois McMahan Cherry (aged 94); his wife, Erma McMahan, (aged 77), and his son, Marlan Edward McMahan (aged 66).
